Writer (Wr.) is a writing app where you can write in your own handwriting and save it as a image or a pdf file. By default you will get a handwriting font and you can start writing using that font. You can also create your own handwriting font and start writing with your own handwriting font.
This app will be more useful for students for writing their assignments in their own handwriting using mobile. Freelancers can also use this app for writing small assignments of their clients.
First of all, you need to download the Writer app from the Google Play Store.
How to download writer app?
Click Writer App Download or search for Writer in the search bar of Google Play Store. The Google Play Store page will open with the Writer app window.
Download the Writer app from that page and install the app.
After installing the app, open the app. On the homepage itself, you will see a text box where you can start writing your assignment on A4 size page.
Before discussing how to write and save assignments on the Writer app, we’ll look at how to save your own handwritten font in the Writer app.
How to create your own handwriting font on writer app?
In the writer app home page, scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see “WANT YOUR HANDWRITING?” button and click “WANT YOUR HANDWRITING?” .
Get handwriting page will open. Follow all the steps mentioned in that page.
First download template from that page. Template will saved as a .pdf file to the mobile’s local file storage. Go to file manager, search writer (.storage/Writer ) and open Writer folder. template.pdf file will be saved in that folder.
Print template.pdf file on the paper and fill all the details using your own handwriting. Fill all the details correctly with free hand.
Now scan the template and send it to writer team at assignment.writer@aol.com. After some time Writer team will send you a email which will contain a font (.otf) file.
After obtaining font file, rename it to mywriting.otf and save that file to .storage/Writer/Font folder in file manager.
Now your own hand writing font will be created and you can start writing your assignments using your own handwriting.
How to writer and save the assignments on writer app?
When you open the Writer app’s home page, you will see a text box. you can start to write your assignment in that text box. Currently you can write only on the A4 size page.
You can also see preview of your assignment in the text box below.
You can also separate question from answer in the assignment by using the tag : <Q> question text</Q>
Once you have completed your assignment, you can save it as an image file. To save an image file, click “Download Page” button below the preview textbox. Image file will now be saved to the local storage in .storage/Writer/Image folder.
You can also save pdf file of the assignment. To save the pdf file, click “create pdf file” button below the “Download page” button. PDF file will now be saved to the local storage in storage/Writer/PDF folder.
How to control font settings in the writer app ?
Once you save your own handwritten font in the mentioned files storage location. You can use that font for writing assignment. But as a default, app will already have a handwritten font. So you need to change that font to use your own handwritten font.
Click settings ⚙️ in the upper right corner of the homepage. In the settings, choose font for your assignment. Chose your saved own handwritten font.
You can also change font size, line spacing , font color and background of the paper/page in the settings.
- To change font size or line spacing , click on the default font size or line spacing and font size/spacing and click done. Your font size/ line spacing will be updated.
- You can chose blue or black color as a font color.
- You also chose plain page or lined page for the background of the page.
Final comments :
There are still many features which needs to be improved for better experience of the user such as
- inserting images needs to be added.
- Saved files are not easily accessible from the app.
- Own handwritten font should be automatically saved to files storage location or in the app.
Apart of above limitations, writer app is best for writing your school and college assignments without images.
